Bristol Airport Baggage Security Information ...

 
 
All passengers should carefully read the following Bristol Airport baggage security unofficial information so their luggage and contents fully complies with the rules and regulations of security at Bristol Airport.
 
Cabin Baggage and Size Allowed
 
Only one item per passenger is allowed through the airport search point with a maximum size of 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (note: the re-sealable bag must be able to fit within the cabin bag). Additional items, for example hand bags, will be required to fit inside the one permitted item of carry on baggage.
 
Screened, but permitted are walking aids, wheelchairs and pushchairs.
 
Outsize Items
 
All items of luggage which do not fit in the permitted cabin baggage size (maximum length 56 cm, width of 45 cm and depth of 25 cm) must be checked in to be placed in the aircraft hold.

An exception to this is musical instruments, these are allowed on the craft as a second item of hand baggage. It is advisable to check with your airline before travelling if any special arrangements need to be made.
 
Liquids
 
Bristol security has now changed and as such selected liquids are allowed to be taken through the security check points. However, restrictions apply on the quantity of liquids that are allowed, and how they are carried through.
 
Each traveller is allowed to take small amounts - no greater than 100ml - onto an aircraft, however each liquid must be stored in separate containers.
 
The containers have to be placed in a single, transparent, re-sealable plastic bag, that must not exceed 1 litre capacity - this is around 20cms x 20cms. And this said clear plastic bag must be sealed, with all the containers inside fitting easily within, not crammed full to bursting. Only one such clear bag may be carried per passengers.

Any liquids that don't fit in the plastic bag have to be packed securely in the passenger's main luggage.
 
'Liquids' deemed safe for travel in hand luggage include:
 
  • Drinks i.e. water and syrups, plus soups
  • Any c reams, oils, lotions, perfumes etc
  • Spray cans and pressurized containers like shaving foam and deodorants
  • Toothpastes,
  • Hair and shower gel
  • Other such solutions of a similar consistency
Bristol Airport Baggage Security Information:
Baby Food
 
Flying with baby foods - please be advised that baby foods and sterilised water are permitted in larger quantities above the 100ml limit but only sufficient for the journey. These liquids will be subject to a taste test at airport security.
 
Essential Medicines
 
Flying with medicines - please be advised that it is permitted to take essential medicines for the duration of your trip but they will be subject to the following authentications. You must obtain written permission from the airline and the airport. You should also have documentation from a qualified medical professional such as your GP or consultant.
 
Laptops
 
All laptop PCs must be screened and carried separately. If carried in a laptop case this will be deemed as the passenger's one piece of authorised hand luggage.
 
Your Journey - preparation
 
When considering packing your hand luggage all passengers are asked by Bristol security to bear in mind the following:
 
Before you Arrive at the Airport
 
  • Only pack in your hand luggage what you will really need during the flight

  • Try and place all liquids into main luggage

  • Have the re-sealable bag of liquids ready before you arrive at the security points at Bristol Airport

  • All queries regarding items allowed in luggage should be take up with your airline well before you travel
Security Screening
 
  • Have the re-sealable bag of liquids ready for security at Bristol as you approach.

  • Remove any jacket and coats you are wearing as you approach security. Also place all metal items on your person in the trays provided.

  • Have your a laptop case ready for security screening, or if the laptop is in your hand luggage take it out for separate screening.
