When shopping in the departure lounge do keep your boarding card with you at all times should you wish to purchase anything - your card will need to be presented to the cashier at each purchase.
Visit the World Duty Free website (www.worlddutyfree.com)before travelling to see the full range of fine fragrances, luxury beauty products and large selection of tobacco and alcohol available.
You may also find things in store that you haven't seen before - this is because many shops use their airport outlets to launch new products before they are available anywhere else in the World, so passengers can try out the latest developments in technology, and model the new fashions before they reach the high street.
For those International travellers flying into Bristol International Airport can also shop at the tax free World Shopping Arrivals store. Situated before the security area within the Airport, the shop holds a wide range of fragrances, cosmetics, electrical goods and duty paid alcohol and tobacco. |

Duty Free Allowances - UK Customs ... |
|
|
|
|
|
|
Please note that allowances vary from country to country, however
when travelling from the EU into the UK, the following items can be bought without incurring customs duty:
- 200 cigarettes, or 100 cigarillos, or 50 cigars, or 250g of tobacco
- 1 Litre of alcoholic beverages stronger than 22%, or 2 Litres of still table wine, or fortified or sparkling wine, or other liqueurs
- 50g of perfume and 250ml of toilet water
- Other goods including souvenirs up to the value of £145
- Goods obtained duty and tax paid in the EU are unlimited
To reiterate, the Channel Islands are treated as being outside of the EU for the duty free allowances.
Goods that are being brought into any EU Country that have already had tax paid, no tax or duty will be added when entering the UK.
Strictly, any alcohol or tobacco brought into the Country must be transported by the passenger and for the passengers own use (i.e. own consumption and gifts).
Goods being brought into the Country for resale or for payment of any kind are considered for commercial use. Should Customs become suspicious then you will be asked a series of questions regarding your load.
For example you could be asked the following questions: details on the type and quantity of goods that have been bought, why they were bought and how much was paid, how often you travel and how much alcohol and tobacco you normally consume.
In addition, a Customs Officer consider whether the excess goods look as though they have been concealed, or whether they have been visibly displayed.
An example of what Customs are likely to suspect if the following quantities are being imported:
- 3,200 cigarettes
- 200 cigars
- 400 cigarillos
- 3kg tobacco
- 110 Litres of beer
- 90 Litres of wine
- 10 Litres of spirits
- 20 Litres of fortified wine (i.e. port or sherry)
To import goods for a resale commercial use of any kind is a serious offence and could result in up to seven years in prison. Goods could be seized and not returned. The same applies if you are caught selling alcohol or tobacco goods, they may be seized.
Like the UK, most Countries have their own laws on how much tobacco and alcohol you may carry in and out of their Country. Some even require you to carry documents covering the goods. When planning on buying larger amounts of alcohol or tobacco, check with the Country’s Authorities before you purchase the goods.
Passengers must carry off the aircraft and through Customs the goods that they are bringing into the UK and are not be carried by others.
NOTE: Some EU Countries have their own special rules for cigarettes and some tobacco products: |
